SUBJECT:
Is Kick Start software the management utility of
22Mbps Wireless AP? How to use it?
QUESTION:
I only find a Kick Start software in the 22Mbps
Wireless AP package, is it the management utility of the
AP? How to use it to manage the AP?
ANSWER:
Recent-model and upgraded 22Mbps Wireless AP offers a
Web-based interface that allows all configuration and
management functions to be carried out through almost
any up-to-date World Wide Web (WWW) browser. Kick Start
software is a useful tool to assist you in starting up
the Web interface to manage your 22Mbps Wireless AP, not
AP’s management utility.
When will you use Kick Start software?
1. The factory-set default IP address of 22Mbps Wireless
AP is a private IP address of 192.168.0.1 with an
address mask of 255.255.0.0. If your management station
is not within the same LAN (the same subnet mask), you
can use Kick Start software to search the AP and change
its IP configuration.
2. 22Mbps Wireless AP can be configured to act as a DHCP
client and request IP settings from a DHCP server. At
this moment, you may not know the AP’s IP address;
then you can use Kick Start software to search the AP
and start the Web interface to connect and manage it.
Step 1. Open Start > Programs > WLAN >
KickStart > KickStart and click Next
button.

Step 2. After a few seconds all Kick Start-compatible
(4X mode supported) 22Mbps Wireless APs on the network
will appear. Select the AP you want to manage and click Next
button.

Step 3. If the selected AP is on a different TCP/IP
subnet from your management station, the Set IP window
will open to let you manual assign the AP’s IP
configuration:
The AP’s factory-set password for Set IP function is
the five-letter string admin.

Step 4. Click Finish button to start
the Web interface (system-default browser) to connect
and manage the selected Wireless AP.

Step 5. You will be prompted to enter a username and
password:
The factory-set username and password is the five-letter
string admin.

Step 6. After confirm your input by clicking OK
button, the main page of the Web-based management
interface will appear. Further configuration can be
carried out using this management interface.
